Wylie, Texas-- East Fork Masonic Lodge hosted an honors dinner for Masonic Woman with the guests of honor being the Lodge’s widows. Over 65 members and area guests turned out to honor the widows, eat a well prepared meal and hear a presentation on home safety by a retired Plano police officer.
First, the honorees were picked up in a chauffeur-driven limousine, taken to the decorated lodge hall, escorted in, pinned with a corsage and seated at the head table. Each of the honored women were then waited on by appropriately clothed brothers who served them dinner and desserts as they kept their glasses filled. The widows attending this event were: Gene Bush, Joyce Lewis, Barbara McGriff, Carolyn Saxon, Faye Drain, Noreen Ford, Francis Carr, Lillian Taylor, Faye Simmons, and Sue Seabourne. The invocation was given by Chaplain Stephen Thompson and District Deputy Grand Master D. Keith Stephens addressed the fact that all brothers had taken it upon themselves to look out for the widows and orphans of fallen master masons. Each of the widows was then given a list of names and phone numbers of brothers on whom they could call should the need arise. One of the widows could not attend due to an illness so a Get Well card was circulated. All of the widows were invited to the lodge’s New Year’s Eve Party as well as the Valentine’s Dinner that is scheduled for February 13th. Several of the widows that were not in attendance this evening expressed looking forward to our other events next year. Peace and Harmony prevailing, Worshipful Master Don Smith closed the dinner by reading a list of names of all of those who helped make this tradition at East Fork such a successful event. Special thanks to Paulette and Janice for their work with table setting, and beautiful centerpieces. You can look at a slideshow of the pictures, here .
